GHEDEX 2015 takes higher education to the next level


Muscat, 20th April 2015 – Oman’s leading Global Higher Education Exhibition- GHEDEX commenced today, 20th April 2015, and will take place until 22nd April 2015 from 9:30am-1:00pm & 4:30pm-9:00pm. Held under the patronage of the Ministry of Higher Education and organized by OITE Trade Fairs, GHEDEX was inaugurated by H.E. Yahya Said Abdullah Al Jabri, Chairman of the Special Economic Zone Authority at Duqm (SEZAD) at 9:30 am at the Oman International Exhibition Centre in the presence of H.E. Dr Rawya Saud Al Busaidi, Minister of Higher Education and H.E. Dr. Dainius Pavalkis, Lithuanian Minister of Education and Science.

200 universities & colleges from over 23 countries participate at GHEDEX 2015

Attracting students from across the Sultanate of Oman, GHEDEX 2015 will provide students and parents the option of choosing from among 200 top-notch universities and colleges from over 23 countries, out of which 170 educational bodies and institutions make up international participation and 30 makes up local participation. Participating countries at GHEDEX include Australia, Austria, Brunei, Canada, Cyprus, Finland, France, Germany, India, Ireland, Jordan, Lithuania, Malaysia, Malta, Netherlands, New Zealand, Poland, Pakistan, Turkey, United Arab Emirates, United Kingdom and United States of America besides the Sultanate of Oman. It must be highlighted that Brunei, Finland, Lithuania and Pakistan are exhibiting at GHEDEX for the first time. This year, GHEDEX has also received strong presence of institutions from Oman, Ireland, UK & US. GHEDEX 2015 is a high-profile higher education event every student must take full advantage of when undertaking career plans and choosing a higher-studies destination, be it within the country or abroad.

NEW – GHEDEX Career Guidance Centre to help students make better career choices

A new feature being introduced at GHEDEX this year is the GHEDEX Career Guidance Centre powered by The Talent Enterprise. The Talent Enterprise will be presenting The Youth Thriving Index™ (YTI), a career guidance psychometric assessment to assess a student’s strengths and work orientations. This unique assessment is the 1st and only psychometric tool to be created and validated in the GCC with Omani norms and will be available to students at GHEDEX in English. The Youth Thriving Index is being offered at GHEDEX at a one – off nominal price. If students have not pre-registered for the same, they still have the option of on the spot registration at the GHEDEX Career Guidance Centre from 20th – 22nd April at the Oman International Exhibition Centre.

NEW- GHEDEX Conference sheds light on Entrepreneurship & Higher Education

Held from 20th -21st April 2015 under the theme ‘Entrepreneurship and Higher Education’, the GHEDEX Conference is another new feature included by OITE Trade Fairs this year, which will be held alongside the GHEDEX Exhibition. Expected to attract around 150 higher education stakeholders and practitioners, the Conference aims to empower educators with updates in learning and teaching methodologies that will enable them to stimulate entrepreneurship amongst their students. Day 1 of the Conference on 20th April will comprise of a single session focusing on tackling the challenges of entrepreneurship education. Day 2 of the Conference on 21st April will highlight entrepreneurship inside & outside the classroom & investigate the attitude and challenges of entrepreneurship education through two separate sessions.

Free Informative Sessions at GHEDEX

Morning and Evening Seminar sessions will be held at GHEDEX 2015 on all three days from 9:30am-1:00pm & 4:30pm-9:00pm. These informative sessions are free of charge, so students visiting GHEDEX are encouraged to attend them to gain insight on various, programmes, procedures, courses and choices being offered by various institutions.
